Whilst living in France 5 years ago Sarah came back to the UK to look at some likely properties for our return.  The first house she saw was Midland Farm, and she bought it on the spot.

The "Farm" stopped being a working farm over 30 years ago, but it was the location of the 1.25 acre site that persuaded Sarah to take the plunge.

Midland Farm garden

The garden at Midland Farm has been featured on the front cover in the Royal Horticultural Society magazine ‘The Garden’.  It is open under the NGS scheme twice a year, and is pictured on the front cover of this year’s NGS’s directory.

Growing fruit and veg is a passion, and guests are welcome to order produce during their stay.

We also have an abundance of very happy hens who produce the most wonderful eggs that are often available for breakfast.

Sarah also offers homemade bread, lunch hampers and dinner by pre arrangement.

We have plenty of our own wildlife, optimistically called pets, so guests should expect to meet and hear them all.

To date the roll call consists of Daisy the Jack Russell, Flyn our Border Terrier, Sophie the cat who we bought back from France, two ponies Frodo and Sam (Sam’s from France too), six chickens (number tend to vary !), Walter the Cayuga duck (fluorescent in the sunlight, quite magnificent), and very often sheep in the field next to the yurt.

We have a pond where Walter likes to dabble, which is often home to frogs, newts and the occasional moorhen.

There is a rookery in a nearby wood, and they provide quite a magical display at dusk.

You can often hear owls hooting round you at night, we have swans and geese flying overhead in the evening, plus any number of small birds.

Letton Lakes nearby is an RSPB sanctuary with some rare species.
